Setting up the Global Dialer

Copy the Install IBM Internet ConnÉ.sit from SF/SF02/Apps/Mac OS to your hard drive. Unstuff it and then double-click on the Install file. After it installs it's parts, you will need to restart.

After you have restarted, increase the memory allocation for the IBM Global Network Dialer. Do this by selecting the Dialer and Choosing Get Info/Memory from the File menu. Set the memory to 6000 as shown below.

Launch the IBM Global Dialer. It will creat a Free PPP setting in your TCP/IP prefs.

On this next screen, select Cancel.

Now you will create a new profile.

Go to Network/Settings Notebook.

Select New Profile.

Enter a name (hopefully yours).

The account is scn1.

Enter your user ID (something like scnxxxx). Get this from Support if you are unsure.

Choose country, region, and number. Add a 9 and comma if needed.

Modem.

Change to internal if it is not there already.

Crank up the port speed to 115200 - what the hell.

Now open the document Location Manager - Using it. You must create at least two locations or you will have trouble with the dialer. This is because it creates a TCP/IP configuration (IBM config) and unless you have other configurations, it sometimes does not move out of it when you leave the dialer.
