Introduction

I know a wide variety of software programs and have supported users in visual design, educational, and business environments. I am an expert at supporting and integrating the Macintosh platform and adept at supporting Windows.

Experience

Galli Heritage

Current status: Working full-time as a construction worker building houses on the pennisula. Hammering nails, cutting wood, that kind of stuff. Also doing evening and weekend computer consulting till I find a good job again. Now mostly supporting old Macs, Mac OS X, Windows 2000, XP, printing, small networks, XHTML/CSS, hardware and software problems.

Private consulting

Worked as a private consultant doing work back in the Bay Area. All the jobs were mainly fix-it jobs and nothing permanent transpired. With the tech sector economy still dead, I took a full-time construction job.

Family time

Spent time with mom and pop: Helped take care of pop during his final year of Alzheimer's disease.

Scient

Provided sole worldwide support for the company's Macintosh users within a primarily Windows environment, in charge of the inventory, acquisition, and distribution of the hardware and software for the Creative Services department, provided general user support for both Macs and PCs, and wrote many how-to documents. Working with the NT administrator, we figured out many ways to get the Macs to access all of the company's resources. Received the company's San Francisco office Values Award for Community. Dot-com bust ended this job.

Pepino's

My own consulting company where I have provided support to companies such as; Autodesk, 360 Group, The Bark, DDB Needham, IDG Books, Bob 'n' Sheila's Edit World, Sofinnova Ventutes Inc, Tech Corp California, Consortium On Reading Excellence (C.O.R.E.), DNP America. For the Creative Services department at Autodesk I transitioned their Macs from using a Novell server and ccMail client to using an NT server and Outlook email client successfully. Also moved the whole department from old Mac 8500s to new G3s in one weekend enabling users to work uninterrupted. Working with NT administrators at Autodesk, eradicated an attack of the AutoStart Worm and then tracked down the source - CDs coming from a vendor. Administered the User accounts on C.O.R.E.'s NT server and helped users connect to it remotely. Moved Edit World from a WhistleJet server and ISDN line to a Cobalt Cube server and DSL line without loosing email or productivity. Created the initial web sites for Tech Corp California, C.O.R.E., Rajala, and Educational Support Systems. Troubleshot and corrected Mac network and printing problems at 360 Group.

RPP International

Upgraded the RAM and hard drives of all machines, upgraded processors on some, changed the company over from Windows 3.11 and Office 4.2 to Windows 95 and Office 97, moved the company from a single AOL modem dialup running on one computer to an ISDN router providing all machines Internet access, created and managed the company's web site, and managed the User accounts on the Novell server.

Other experience

Directed an upper division lab section on SPSS and was a computer facility aid while at UC Berkeley. Teacher's assistant in math, private tutor for math and English, and a private tutor on Macintosh for exceptional middle school child, all at the Elk Grove Unified School District.

United States Marine Corps

Responsibilities included the proper management, training, and readiness of the marines under my command. Received top honors in Amphibious Unit Leader - staff level leadership - and Unit Embarkation - logistics planning - schools.
